“Everything Was Vonnegut” – Media Website

December 14th, 2011, posted in News

I was involved with a Kurt Vonnegut Jr. tribute show at the end of September. My friend Jade Sylvan and I rallied a bunch of poets, artists, puppeteers and musicians to pay homage to a highly revered writer in American Lit. He’s also one of my favorites. Jade is from Indianapolis where the Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Library is located, we wanted to record the show and put it up on a website to show the library and other blogs and media and of course other Vonnegut fans. I researched minimalism themes for WordPress. A lot of them had bugs or were not what we were looking for exactly. Our vision was a simple theme that focused on the media. I found Fifty-Fifth Street. I really adore this theme and highly recommend it. Oh yeah, and it’s free.

If you want to check out my short set of me reading my poem “Kurt’s Vonnegut Heaven” just click below. All the artists involved are amazingly talented.

A music video I painted little phones and a mini desk for is in TIME magazine!

Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling, a Boston No-Wave band makes and performs songs based on The Prisoner. This is their video for Arrival, a shot by shot remake of the opening scenes of the show. It was voted #6 most creative music video of 2011 in TIME magazine! I did a little painting on some of the mini sets, which is nothing compared to the talent behind this video and of course the band, Mike J. Epstein and Sophia Cacciola. Congrats you guys!

PS — at 2:16ish you can see the little phones and desk I painted.

The Third Wheel

In November I was commissioned to draw a comic for a local band, A Bit Much. The comic was for their new single, “All Saint’s Day 2011″, and debuted at the Cantab Lounge in Cambridge, MA this Friday.

They wanted me to emulate a “chick tract”. They wrote the plot and I illustrated it with black ink. This was a really fun project obviously. You can see all five panels of art here.

If you want to check out their new single, “All Saint’s Day 2011″ you can stream it here. The song is about a girl that one of the band members liked but she wouldn’t date him because of his “lack of faith”. Also thought it was kind of cool because All Saint’s Day is the day before my birthday.

New Site – Leon Rich

Leon Rich asked for a minimal, white site, so I came up with this. All the information is on one page along with a little background to his music.

Comic about my Edupunk Education

October 25th, 2011, posted in News

I had to draw a comic for a contest illustrating my “alternative” education path, or how I became a web designer. It’s not that strange I think, but certainly a different path than most people. Clicky clicky for a larger view.

Karma Yoga Studio Flyers

So, got a new client, Karma Yoga Studio in Cambridge who I am going to help with logo design and other graphic design projects. They have a very green studio, with lots of reused materials and recycled and biodegradable materials. Most of their profits go to rescue animals. I thought this was great because I am a proud owner of a cat I rescued from Greenfield. Her name is Dicey:

So I’m very happy to be working with them. We will also be working on the design and development of a new website. I will be working with Truly Good who have a very similar mission in web design. Here’s some of the flyers:

New Site – The Ground Up

October 10th, 2011, posted in News

Hey! Wanted to share a new site I made that was launched last week for the local Boston band, The Ground Up.

This site was based on a Clear Line theme and tweaked by yours truly. The client wanted a clean, neat and ultra-minimal design, which I usually suggest for band websites. The Ground Up is playing at Precinct on the 20th of October.

Hello World! v. 3.5

So, welcome to my new website. What do you guys think of this one? I am going to use this as my professional website as well as a blog so prospective clients can get an idea of my personality and style as well as see work I’ve done. I think I will take this opportunity to tell you about a great show me and my friend and fellow poet, Jade Sylvan are putting on with 20+ talented locals, ranging from poetry to puppets to paintings. I made this EPK for it so take a look!

This show is on Thursday the 22nd at Precinct which is a club I do a lot of booking at. Here’s a link to the FB event.
